King Island is located approximately 80 km northwest of Tasmania in Australia and about 90 km southeast of Cape Otway on the Victorian coast of Australia. This is not a tiny island, it is some 64 km long and 26 km wide. Kings Island Colonial Cottage is a quaint 1830's cottage in the heart of historic Hobart. This tiny brick one bedroom cottage has a log fire downstairs and a romantic attic bedroom upstairs. Provisions for a hearty breakfast are provided. You could just stroll the city streets, admiring the colonial architecture in sandstone, and round Sullivans Cove admire the fishing boats and yachts tied up in the small docks. A little further on is Salamanca Place, with fine art galleries, craft shops, coffee shops and restaurants. There are tours to the summit of Mount Wellington, with breathtaking views over Hobart and the majestic River Derwent. King Island is anchored in the middle of the Bass Strait between Victoria and Tasmania’s North West coast. Surrounded by some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches, King Island imports the world’s best surfers and exports produce sought by the world’s top chefs. King Islanders are unbelievably friendly and welcoming while also blunt and funny.
