Kualoa Ridge Canvas Posters

Kualoa Ridge Canvas Posters Kualoa Ranch is one of the most beautiful locations on Oahu. Once a sacred place of refuge and training ground for Hawaiian royalty , Kualoa Ranch encompasses Kualoa Valley and a working cattle ranch. Kua loa means long back in Hawaiian, named for the ridged mountains. To the north is Kaawa Valley, famous for film locations, and to the south is Hakipuu Valley, a 800-year-old fishpond and secret island. Nearby you will find offshore island Chinaman’s Hat, and around the bend is the Tropical Farms macadamia nut outlet. The entire Kualoa are was considered very sacred and a place of refuge. The valley is backed by the Koolau Mountains. The highest peak of the Kualoa ridge rises to 1,900 feet. It is called Kanehoalani, meaning “Kane's heavenly companion.” Kane was the god of procreation. He was one of the leading gods and was worshipped by the Hawaiians. There are many modern accounts of local residents who claim to have heard or seen night marchers in the valley, especially on full moon nights. People have reported hearing drums and seeing warriors and chiefs in ghostly processions marching from their burial grounds in the mountains to the sea. Kualoa Ranch was so named in 1927 and has been used for various purposes over the last eight decades. Kualoa which means “long back” in Hawaiian describes the Ranch’s beautiful valleys and mountain peaks.
