Mighty River Hopi Point

Mighty River Hopi Point Hopi Point is the northernmost spot on part of the south rim and the first point where much more of the western Grand Canyon comes into full perspective. Hopi Point has a fenced viewing area next to the road, and a vista over the canyon centered on Butte, a flat mesa 2,000 feet below the overlook. Opposite Hopi Point on the North Rim are a group of prominent mesas either side of Trinity Creek, named after figures from ancient Egypt - largest are Isis Temple, Horus Temple and Osiris Temple. Hopi Point is one of the most popular viewpoints for watching the sunset and sunrise because of its wide vistas. The Colorado River comes into view to the west. Hopi Point sticks way out into the Grand Canyon and allows a wonderful view of the rock layers of the mighty gorge. For the last hundred years this view point has been recommended by rangers and tour guides as the best place to view the sunset at Grand Canyon. Back then it took a 3 hour ride by coach just to get to Hopi Point Hopi Point is the fourth stop on West Rim Drive. You will see great views of the Colorado River and of course the gorgeous rock formations that make the canyon so famous. Many people stop at Hopi Point to watch the sunset as it is an ideal location. Another thing you may see from Hopi Point is whitewater rapids. They may not look like much from the point but are quite majestic when you are close to them. Many adventurers actually travel to the bottom of the canyon or ride the river through it. White water rafting is just one way to explore the Grand Canyon.
