Chinamans Pastels Wall Art Prints

Chinamans Pastels Wall Art Prints Mokolii, also known among locals as Chinaman’s Hat because of its shape, is a popular spot for taking pictures on Oahu’s windward coast. The small island is located at the north end of Kaneohe Bay, offshore of Kualoa Regional Beach Park. It is the small island that looks like a rice picker hat. At low tide the water is waist high but at high tide it will be neck high or higher. You may have heard that there are supposedly hammerhead sharks all over these waters. On the back side of the island there is a beautiful small cove with a tiny sandy beach. It is also called Chinaman’s Hat because of its cone shape, which resembles the peasant’s hat worn in rural China. Besides a few lonely palm trees and two small beaches, there isn’t anything else here. But it is still a great place to visit if you like adventures and would like to have an island to yourself once in your life. Mokolii Island, one of Windward Oahu's most famous landmarks, lies off the park. Its creation is explained in a legend about Hiiaka, a sister of Pele, the goddess of the volcano. Because the reef surrounding this small island is the habitat for a wide variety of marine life, it is widely regarded as one of Oahu's best offshore islands for exploration. There is a little beach on the ocean-facing side, nestled within a secluded cove accompanied by a few coconut palms. It provides a great location for sun bathing or picnicking. Today, Chinaman's Hat, or Mokolii Island, is part of Kualoa Regional Park. At low tide, it is possible to kayak or wade out to Chinaman's Hat. Looking back to Oahu, beautiful views can be seen of the Koolau Mountains, Mokapu Peninsula, Kaneohe, Kahaluu, and Kailua, so be sure to bring along a camera. Whether you circle around the island to the beach or go straight over the top, there is much to be seen.
