Island Archway Rolled Canvas Prints

Island Archway Rolled Canvas Prints As its name suggests, the impressive rock formation on the Great Ocean Road resembled an archway rising 25 meters from the sea. All that remains following the collapse are the two rocks that previously supported the arch. Island Archway will more than likely remain its name, but what we will probably do is provide some additional interpretation to show what it used to look like. See this natural rock formation formed through erosion, at its best during rough seas when the waves crash in and around the arch. Sea arches are caused by erosion of a sea stack at a point of weakness until the underlying rock is worn through. Eventually the arch will collapse leaving two standing stacks similar to those of the Twelve Apostles a little further east along the coast. Nearby is the famous Razorback stack. The Island Arch is one of the attractions on the Great Ocean Road in Australia, most famous for the Twelve Apostles. The Island Archway near Loch Ard Gorge at Port Campbell on Victoria Great Ocean Road managed to collapse leaving two 25m rock pillars instead of a beautiful curve. The area is becoming known for falling sea stacks, with one of the nearby Twelve Apostles going down. The gorge is accessed via the Great Ocean Road, 3.5 km northwest of The Twelve Apostles. Stairs allow visitors access to the beach and a pathway allows access to the eastern side of the gorge. There are numerous plaques and a small museum detailing the site history, as well as a rest area, and cemetery housing many of the people that died.
