Eagle Creek Waterfall Paintings

Eagle Creek Waterfall Paintings The Eagle Creek to Tunnel Falls Hike is one of the most popular and magnificent trails in the Columbia River Gorge, and for good reason. You will literally lose count as you pass dozens of spectacular waterfalls through the lush temperate rain forests and tall basalt cliffs. Eagle Creek is a tributary of the Columbia River in Multnomah and Hood River counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. Eight major falls are on Eagle Creek and the East Fork Eagle Creek itself, while five are on its tributaries. The Eagle Creek Trail is one of Oregon's most spectacular paths, passing half a dozen major waterfalls. The trail is also an engineering marvel. To maintain an easy grade through this rugged canyon, the builders blasted ledges out of sheer cliffs, bridged a colossal gorge and even chipped a tunnel through solid rock behind 120-foot Tunnel Falls. The trail starts along the creek but soon climbs well above it along a slope of cedars and mossy maples. Look for yellow monkey flowers and curving fronds of maidenhair fern overhanging the path. High Bridge is one of only two places where the trail crosses the creek. There are many sites between here and Tunnel Falls, but the premium ones are gobbled up quickly in the summer months. As you hike through the forest and along paths carved into the basalt cliffs and enjoy the spectacular views and waterfalls, it is easy to see why Eagle Creek Trail is the most popular trail in the Columbia Gorge.
