It is part of the Northern Beaches region. Curl Curl Lagoon and Greendale Creek, separate Curl Curl from North Curl Curl. Neighboring suburbs include Freshwater, Brookvale and Dee Why. Wingala is an adjacent locality. Curl Curl Beach runs along the eastern border and extends to North Curl Curl Beach. The stretch of beach at Curl Curl is divided into North and South Curl Curl beaches. Curl Curl is known for some of the best surfing on the Northern Beaches. The north end of Curl Curl is at the entrance of Curl Curl Lagoon. An off-leash dog exercise area is behind the dunes at Adam Street Reserve and no dogs are allowed on the beach. Swimming in Curl Curl Lagoon is not recommended. Curl Curl Beach is located between Dee Why Beach and Freshwater Beach on the Northern Beaches. A great place to relax as the beach is mainly frequented by locals, so not all that busy. Curl Curl is one of Sydney's best surfing beaches. It faces the east-southeast and averages 1.6 meter waves. The beach is approximately 1.2 km long and is divided into North Curl Curl and South Curl Curl. The beautiful south end of Curl Curl is popular, with a child-friendly ocean swimming pool and cafe. If you are planning to swim at the beach, make sure you stay between the flags, as there are several rips at any one time, the most notable one being the Garbage Bowl at the southern end of the beach.
