Makena Barrel Panoramic Art Prints
Big Beach is a beautiful, long, wide, undeveloped sandy beach. It is so impressive, with huge views and a large shore-break. Big Beach is a must-see. Makena Beach State Park includes two of Maui’s nicest beaches, Big Beach and Little Beach. The wide, golden-sand Big Beach is edged with palm trees and bordered by grass-topped sand dunes between two black lava points on the south side of Maui’s resort coastline of Wailea. Big Beach is well over a half a mile long, and is also uncharacteristically wide by Maui standards. That means loads of real estate to stake out your claim, and this beach, while always drawing lots of people, is never so crowded as to be packed. Big Beach has a significant on-shore break that can be downright brutal when there is a large south swell. This is never a beach that is safe for small children or inexperienced swimmers. Adults might want to think twice during high surf, as well. This white and orange sand beach is nearly one mile long and 100 yards wide with plenty of room for everyone. Visitors can swim or snorkel in these pristine waters, picnic in the shade, or simply sunbathe on the seemingly endless expanse of sand. Big Beach is located south of Wailea near the Makena Beach and Golf Resort and provides a secluded alternative to more crowded beaches in Kaanapali and Lahaina.
