Beach Canvas Prints

Beach Canvas Prints British Admiral Beach is named after the British Admiral. The beach curves slightly for 1.5 km between two granite points that protrude 200 m seaward. It faces west-southwest, with waves reduced slightly by scattered inshore and outer reefs. The beach is backed by well vegetated massive Holocene transgressive dunes that extends 3 km inland to the main road and reach 89 m at Huxley Hill and which extend north to the southern limits of Currie. The northern end of the beach is accessible along the Nether by Road and is the most popular surfing beach on the island. A few kilometers south of Currie you will find British Admiral Beach, a great spot for surfing in almost any wind, especially at the southern end. Surfers visiting King Island can put this on a top-five-local-breaks list along with local Martha Lavinia, Phoques Bay, Red Hut Point and Porky Beach. As its 1874 shipwreck namesake would vouch though, British Admiral features plenty of reefs and rips. If you are not a wave riding expert stick to the sheltered swimming hole for paddling and snorkeling or try beach fishing for salmon, snapper and gummy shark. If you are fishing definitely start by visiting Terry Perry’s on the Main Street beforehand. The shop dispenses bait and gear as well as advice on the best local spots. You can pick up an affordable license for crayfish or abalone diving either from Service Tasmania on George Street.
